Your Writing Coaches

Meet your writing coaches-- two experienced instructional designers from Your Instructional Designer
with PhDs in Composition who can't wait to help you fly.

Katie Hynes, PhD

Instructional Designer | Your Instructional Designer

Katie started her career at a magazine before spending years in the world of higher education and loves how working in L&D allows her to blend her background in writing and education. She has a PhD in English Composition from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a certificate in e-learning instructional design from UW Professional and Continuing Education—and in her free time, she aspires to return to her English major roots and read more of the greats like Duckstoevsky (but usually watches too much ducking TV).

Nicole Papaioannou Lugara, PhD

Founder & Learning Strategist | Your Instructional Designer

Having written over 600 video scripts, countless pages of eLearning and other instructional materials, 1 article published in TD Magazine, 2 poems published in literary reviews, a dissertation for her PhD in English at St. John's University, and 2 instructional design books, Nicole likes to think she's quacked the code on ID writing. She's built her chops teaching writing through 6 years of teaching college students as an adjunct faculty member, 6 years of coaching as a university writing center writing consultant, and 4 years as the head facilitator of Scripting Voiceover for Video. When she's not in ID formation, she enjoys spending time with her little duckling (human toddler), shaking her tail feather in the dance studio, and riding horses.

People Ducking Love Us

An amazing job of distilling the necessary and relevant information and presenting it into an engaging course. Great resources and material and exercises I will come back to.
Luke G.
Sr. Learning Experience Designer
This was not just another video course where I was nothing more than a passive viewer. It incorporated assignments and challenges that kept me on my toes and helped my learning process immensley. I now feel like I know what to pay attention to when putting together a well-written script!
Sophia S.
Learning Experience Designer
Thank you for putting this workshop together! I feel so much more comfortable with script writing.
Amy C.
Instructional Designer
Nicole was the first person I thought of when I needed someone to teach the Academy members how to script instructional content. Not only did she teach in the Academy, but she taught me something new about writing.
